“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:35
I know folks who truly believe a Joe Biden presidency would be a disaster. I also know people who think that four more years of Donald Trump will be the end of the republic. All solid Christians, in both groups.
Tomorrow will be overwhelming with a lot of uncertainty, anxiety and fear for many. You know what our job is as followers of Christ tomorrow, this week, next week, next month, and next term? Love each other, no matter what. Because when people are stressed and anxious, the last thing they need is someone berating them.
Vote. Vote your conscience. This election (and all elections), matter a great deal. But understand that there will be family, friends, coworkers and people on the internet who will disagree and whose position will make your blood boil. Doesn’t matter. Love them anyway. Care for them if they need it. Cherish the fact that they are in your life.
The verse doesn’t read, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you hold to the correct political position.”
Let’s please not forget that.
